not a real thing, just part of my portfolio done for fun

once upon a time when Bulgaria was under the ruling of the Ottoman empire, there were people leaving in the mountains and fighting with the oppressors or just stealing from the people that went into their forests :D they were freedom fighters or just plain bandits and were called Hajduts (fancy I know)
so anyway I wanted to draw some hajduts for a long time and this is the first of many I think

I tackled this as if it was a animated series in a style close to the one of Korra :)

I might be a bit off on the clothing- specially on the good sister- her outfit has a bit more of a russian flavor to it :)

i guess the word "hajdut" comes from the turkish word "haydut". it means bandit in turkish :)

of course
during the time we were under the steady hand of the Ottoman we adopted quite few of the words from the turkish language :D

most of the Hajduts were robbers anyways - stealing from turkish and bulgarians - some of them were freedom fighters, of course :D
